You probably clicked this link because you thought I was going to write about the other kind of weed, the one that has it’s own TV show (Weeds). This one’s different. It’s about Dandelions.
I’ve always loved flowers and I’m lucky enough to have married a man who is thoughtful and knows that. He always gives me flowers on special occasions or sometimes just to appreciate me. Flowers take away my stress, fill our house with a soft sweet scent and most especially it makes me feel special.
My son has seen my husband shower me with flowers and witnessed the happiness it brings me.I’ve always liked a variety of a bit pricey flowers ranging from long stemmed roses to orchids. It has occurred to me that the more expensive the flower the more beautiful it is thus the price but boy was I wrong.
My husband and son decided to leave me behind one day and play with their RC toys (it was the first time they went without me) and when they came back my son said: “I have a surprise for you mom”. I replied: “Oh really, paying half attention to him as I was washing the dishes. He asked me to close my eyes and when I opened them he handed me a single, soft, golden dandelion flower. I often pass by dandelions when walking home. I usually don’t give it the time of day since it’s considered a naturalized weed here in North America. And then he said: “Mom, I got you a flower because I know it makes you happy and I miss you. I love you mom”. I’ve never looked at Dandelions the same way again. My son could never have picked a more perfect flower as the name “Dandelion” represents “happiness” and “faithfulness”. Since then he never failed to pick one for me every time he sees it. To me it’s not a weed but a precious flower. They are definitely the most priceless flower I could ever find.
